Sponsor a Home
The Power of ONE.
One Home at a Time
One church. One business. One community group. One act of love that changes everything.
We believe in the 'Power of One' because as a nonprofit that builds homes around the world, we’ve seen how one donor’s decision becomes the exact moment everything changes for a family. Our sponsorship model also includes clean water, proper sanitation, and bicycle mobility — essential tools to help build long-term stability.
When churches, businesses, and community groups come together to sponsor a project, the impact doesn’t just grow; it ripples. One home becomes ten. Ten homes become hundreds, and with every build, a new story of safety, of healing, of hope begins.
This is how communities rise. This is how the cycle of poverty is interrupted. This is how love builds something that lasts. When you partner with us, you aren’t just giving a gift; you are building a legacy of equity.
Join our nonprofit house sponsorship program and see the power of one in action.
How Sponsoring a Home Project Works
While providing housing, clean water, sanitation, and transportation takes careful planning and hard work, we believe sponsoring a project should be simple. Here’s what you can expect in four easy steps:

#1
Your Gift, Our Promise
While costs vary by country, an average sponsorship of $5,000 supports one complete Shelter Equity project. Rather than funding a single structure, your investment fuels a holistic intervention designed to strengthen long-term stability, including a tap to access clean water, a latrine for safe sanitation, and a bicycle for transportation.
#2
We Send Your Gift Where the Need is Greatest
After you sponsor a home, your gift is directed to a carefully vetted, community-led partner. Each partner is selected through a grant and review process that evaluates mission alignment, financial transparency, and dependability. Local partners identify participating families, confirm secure land tenure, and ensure families are actively involved in building their own homes. Stability begins the moment construction starts and continues as families use these tools to move toward self-reliance.
#3
We Share the Journey
While the work is underway, you’ll be part of the story. Through The Impact Journal, social media, and email updates, we’ll keep you informed at every stage.
You may not be swinging a hammer or mixing cement, but your impact is built into every brick. Your sponsorship becomes a thread in the fabric of a family’s future, and as a nonprofit that builds homes, we believe you should see the transformation unfold.
#4
Your Impact Report
Once construction is complete, you’ll receive an Impact Report for your home-building project sponsorship.
This includes photos, location details, and the story of the difference you’ve helped make through our nonprofit house sponsorship program.
Sponsor a Home, Sponsor Change
The mission to interrupt poverty starts here, with a home.
After over three decades of helping communities, we narrowed it down to one crucial factor. A roof over a family’s head is where hope begins. You can be part of that change.

A sustainable, climate-resilient, regionally tailored home that’s safe and secure — that’s the gift of your sponsorship, and the first step in interrupting the cycle of global poverty.
No one should get sick from the water they drink or lack a safe place to go to the bathroom. When you donate to charity through our nonprofit, your sponsorship makes clean water and safe sanitation accessible.
A bicycle is a simple mode of transportation that opens the door to accessing school, work, and other resources that families might require to thrive.

Building Communities, Shaping Futures
A home is more than four walls and a roof — it is the boundary between fear and peace. For 32 years, Shelter Equity has partnered with donors like you to prove that poverty isn’t a lack of character; it is a lack of the essential tools a family needs to thrive. Together, we turn generosity into stability — one family at a time.
It only takes one to begin. One sponsor. One home. One decision to act. But at Shelter Equity, 'one' never stays one for long. When your Power of One is multiplied through our global network, one home becomes ten, opportunity expands, local economies grow, and entire communities are strengthened from the ground up.

Be a Part of the Story You Shape
Your partnership is the heartbeat of this mission, and we believe you should see the joy it creates.
